'Shameless' season 7 spoilers, update: Frank adopts a substitute family

(Facebook/ShamelessOnShowtime)Frank has a new family in "Shameless" season 7.

Frank (William H. Macy) will replace his real family with fake ones in the upcoming season of "Shameless." Will his new offspring like him any better than the real ones?

As per the promo released by Showtime, the Gallagher patriarch will get out of the hospital, eager to return to his children. He will soon find out, though, that they were the ones who got him in trouble in the first place. When Fiona's (Emmy Rossum) wedding to Sean (Dermot Mulroney) was canceled, she and her siblings threw the drunk Frank off a bridge. They wanted to get rid of the man who has made life more difficult for them.

After learning the truth, Frank storms out of the bar and drops by a shelter for the homeless. There, he starts picking the new members of his family. There is one who will replace Fiona, down to the youngest of the brood. He brings them to the Gallagher home, where Frank insists to stay. The set up, however, is a disaster waiting to happen. When will Frank realize that he is wasting his time trying to create a "better" family?

Meanwhile, the rest of the Gallaghers are not faring any better. The bills are piling up and Fiona has no means to pay all of them. The rest of the kids are doing their own thing, making it more difficult for her. Executive producer Nancy Pimental said in a previous interview that the family's situation would continue to worsen. They have to make ends meet and the pressure is weighing in on everyone. Will it be better for the kids to take in Frank again?

"The Gallaghers have all had moments where they come out of a fog and can separate from their history, upbringing and where they live and circumstances, but does it stay that way? We're talking about a future where Fiona will have more responsibility but gets her wages garnished because she hasn't paid taxes. She's worked hard to be on the up and up and it becomes a question of: Is it worth it? How do they get out of their circumstances?" the EP said.

"Shameless" season 7 premieres on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 9 p.m. EST on Showtime.
