'Scream Queens' season 2: Chanel Oberlin's new look and love interest; second season inspired by classic horror movie 'Halloween'
Production for "Scream Queens 2" will be starting soon, and before you know it, the Chanels will be back with a new look and a new attitude.
The popular series was picked up for another season earlier this year, and to the fans' delight, it was quickly revealed that the original cast will also be back for another round of mayhem. The revelation was made by star Jamie Lee Curtis during this year's PaleyFest. The actress, who plays Dean Munsch in the series, said that "according to the boss, we're all going to be back."
The "we" that Curtis was referring to meant the Chanels — Emma Roberts, Abigail Breslin, and Billie Lourd — Lea Michele, Keke Palmer, Niecy Nash, and Glen Powell.
"Scream Queens" ended its freshman run with the Chanels being found guilty of murder and locked away for life in an asylum. It was also revealed that Hester was the Red Devil, a fact that Dean Munsch kept quiet about.
Roberts, who portrays the fashionable Chanel Oberlin, recently talked about what changes are in store for her character in season 2. The "American Horror Story" alum told US Weekly that Chanel will be getting a new look next season.
"It's [based in a] mental hospital. So, I doubt Chanel is looking as 'Chanel' as we remember her [on the finale]," Roberts explained.
She also added that she might have a new love interest next season, probably one of the cute doctors that are reportedly set to be introduced.
"Scream Queens" co-creator Brad Falchuk explained that the setting for the second season in a hospital was inspired by the classic horror movie "Halloween," which also starred Curtis. According to Falchuk, this hospital is owned and ran by Munsch, who is on a new mission in her life.
The Chanels have apparently turned their life around in the asylum as well and had gotten serious with their studies. They will reportedly be studying under Munsch, while Hester will be involved in the hospital's administration. Zayday will also be training to become a doctor, while Denise is now a member of the FBI.
As for Chanel's ex-boyfriend and season 1 Lothario, Chad Radwell (Glen Powell), the actor said he still has no idea what his role will be, but he tells Variety that whatever his character is doing in the hospital is "probably a little bit perverted."
"Scream Queens 2" is expected to return to TV screens by the last quarter of the year.
