After being renewed for a fifth season on May 8, there are already speculations about ABC's political thriller, "Scandal," and what could be in store in the upcoming season. The fourth season's finale ended with Olivia (Kerry Washington) and Fitz Grant (Tony Goldwyn) reuniting on the White House residence's balcony.

According to The Gospel Herald, season five could leave room for Olivia and Fitz to resume their love affair. In the finale, Fitz demanded that her wife, Mellie (Bellamy Young), move out of the White House as he discovered her involvement with the murders of the grand jurors. Meanwhile, Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) decided to break up with Olivia, as he feels that she still has feelings for the U.S. President, Fitz. Fans speculate that these events might lead to a renewed affair between Olivia and Fitz.

It was revealed in the finale that Huck was the one who murdered the grand jurors after his family was threatened by Rowan. As for the fate of Huck Munoz in season five, TV Guide reports that Huck may join forces with Rowan Pope (Joe Morton), the head of B-613.

Portia De Rossi, who plays Elizabeth North on the show, has been promoted to a series regular as her role expands as the new White House Chief of Staff, according to TVLine.

"Scandal" takes place in Washington D.C. and revolves around Olivia Pope, played by Kerry Washington, and her crisis management firm, Olivia Pope & Associates. The show also features staff from the White House, which includes the President, Chief of Staff and the First Lady. The series stars Kerry Washington as Olivia Pope, Guillermo Diaz and Katie Lowes as O.P.A associates Diego Munoz and Quinn Perkins, Tony Goldwyn as President Fitzgerald Grant III, Bellamy Young as the First Lady Mellie Grant, and Jeff Perry as Chief of Staff Cyrus Beene.

There's been no official announcement yet regarding the filming and release of season five, though rumors point to a September season premier.
