'Scandal' season 5 spoilers: showrunner teases more scandal as Olivia and Fitz are back together
ABC's "Scandal" will begin airing its fifth season in a little less than a week. Fans are already excited to see the show's return and fortunately for them, the production of the series have done their fair share of teasing audiences with the recent release of not only the trailer, but also several promotional posters.
Based on those which have been made available, it seems like viewers of the political drama would finally get what they have long waited for.
Last August, Matt Webb Mitovich chanced upon "Scandal" creator, Shonda Rhimes, during an earlier press tour panel. In the interview, Rhimes was asked whether or not she would be interested in portraying a presidential divorce on the show. While the "Grey's Anatomy" creator remained coy during the public event, citing how the production is not allowed to divulge future possible story lines, she confirmed behind closed doors that a divorce in the White House is definitely a plot line that is interesting for her to explore.
True enough, the fourth season of "Scandal" saw Fitz finally throwing his wife, Mellie, out after discovering that she in fact, was the one who leaked the names of the jurors to Rowan Pope.
While there were rumors that claim that the separation might be short lived, according to not only the poster of Fitz on Olivia's neck, but also the official synopsis released by ABC, the president and Olivia have finally reconciled.
"Olivia and Fitz are back together again and enjoying every scandalous moment together while Cyrus, Mellie, and Huck are all still dealing with the aftermath of helping Command. Meanwhile, when a visit from the Queen of Caldonia and her family turns into a tragedy, Olivia is hired to make sure the Royal family's private life stays private," read the synopsis.
"Scandal" would return for its fifth season on Sept.24, 2015.
