'Scandal' season 5 spoilers: Episode 6 toys with the idea of Olivia-Fitz marriage; Mellie faces inquiry about her marriage

Olivia Pope is finally stepping into the first lady post! Or at least that's what the wave of promos seem to imply. But whether or not the show's protagonist and the President get married is definitely the highlight of the upcoming "Scandal" season five episode. But the show promises more things to look forward to this Thursday night.

When episode six of "Scandal" season five airs this Thursday, Olivia Pope's (Kerry Washington) stint as President Fitz's (Tony Goldwyn) mistress is about to end. In an attempt to salvage the president's image, which was a bit damaged when news of the affair with Olivia broke out, Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry) urges the President to propose marriage. This signals Cyrus' full-blown transfer to the other side, after his and Mellie Grant's (Bellamy Young) attempts at impeaching the President fell through.

Speaking of Mellie, she will finally be forced to talk about her marriage. Confronted by the press about the troubled marriage, how will the Senator react?

But it's not all an episode of love and marriage. Being a partly political show, "Scandal's" latest episode will also see Fitz handling the war with West Angola. And more politics are to be expected as ChristianPost reports that Vice-President Susan Ross (Artemis Pebdani) will seek Attorney General David Rosen's (Joshua Malina) advice.

Undeniably though, a possible marriage between Olivia and Fitz remains the number one thing to look forward to with episode six. While in the first wave of promo (see it on YouTube), Olivia seems to veto the idea ("A shotgun wedding on the heels of a quickie divorce," she says), she also seems to be seriously considering it as evidenced by some sneak peek videos posted by ABC. Whatever the decision may be, "This should be good," promises the promo.

Episode six is titled "Get Out of Jail, Free" and will air this Oct. 29. New "Scandal" episodes pilot every Thursday night on ABC.
