Shonda Rhimes' genius show "Scandal" starring skilled actress, Kerry Washington, always has ample cliff-hangers, action sequences and drama in every scene. Season four may have just concluded a few months back, but the show's cast and crew have already begun their table reads. Filming for the scandalous show is soon to begin full-fledged.

Those viewers who remember activist, Marcus Walker, from two episodes of "Scandal" season four will be happy to note that the actor portraying the role has been bumped up to a series regular. TVLine reports that actor, Cornelius Smith Jr., has been promoted as a series regular, sparking speculations that he may become a gladiator.

Olivia Pope surely needs a new gladiator by her side after losing two last season. The DC-based drama killed off Harrison Wright while Abby quit her position at OPA to take on the press secretary position at the White House. Pope surely needs a gladiator desperately. However, confirmed details of Smith's character in season five are kept under wraps.

Meanwhile, actor, Scott Foley, who plays the role of Jake, may not have departed from the show as "Scandal" fans believed after season four's sensational finale. Foley tweeted, "I heard they're getting the band back together tomorrow. #Scandal," hinting that his character may be back on the show.

Additionally, a TVLine spoiler cited that Pope's first client on the season five's premiere episode will be from British royalty. A case entailing an aristocrat will certainly prove to be fascinating, to say the least.

More information will be available about the upcoming season once filming begins in full-swing. However, lead actress, Kerry Washington, did tease to Marie Claire magazine about the first episode.

When asked about what fans can expect in the premiere, the mother-of-one replied, "You know, Tony Goldwyn and I were talking after the table read just about how the last season you saw Fitz and Olivia getting it on on the Truman balcony, but we were just blown away by how that relationship is dealt with in the first episode back. It's exciting."

Season five premieres on Sept. 24, 2015.
