The date for Saul "Canelo" Alvarez' next fight is now set to happen on May 7, ESPN Go reports. Unfortunately, though, the identity of his opponent still remains unannounced, as well as the venue of where the fight will take place.

Luckily, according to Chepo Reynoso, Alvarez' manager, more details will emerge possibly in the coming weeks or months after they meet with Oscar Dela Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions.

"We plan to meet next week with Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar de la Hoya, Eric Gomez, Roberto Diaz, Ramiro Gonzalez, to see what what's coming up," the manager told ESPN Deportes via Boxing Scene. "We hope to have more certainty by the end of this month or beginning of February."

Reynoso then continued to note that the names that are floating around in the rumor mill like Gabe Rosado and Willie Monroe Jr. are all speculations as of the moment. "For now we can not say anything until we talk with Golden Boy," Reynoso said.

Meanwhile, as for the location of the fight, Golden Boy Promotions Vice President, Eric Gomez, told ESPN Go that there are many possible venues they have in mind right now, including the soon to open Las Vegas Arena that is owned by MGM Grand/AEG.

Gomez then continued to name other venues like the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, the Alamodome in San Antonio and New York's Madison Square Garden.

"We have holds all over and we will see where we can make the best deal for Canelo's fight," Gomez added on his statement to ESPN Go. "But no site is locked in."

Lastly, the VP of Golden Boy Promotions also wants to consider Mandalay Bay for the fight where Alvarez has beaten Miguel Cotto for the middleweight division last Nov. 21.

Needless to say, it is highly advisable for the fans to consider the other details as mere speculations for now and wait for further announcements coming from Canelo Alvarez' team and from Golden Boy Promotions.
