San Antonio Spurs trade rumors 2016: One must go between LaMarcus Aldridge and Pau Gasol?

Soon, the San Antonio Spurs might need to make a tough decision regarding their star big men LaMarcus Aldridge and Pau Gasol. One could likely go as their defense is reportedly suffering from having both of them.

ClutchPoints mentioned some of the things that are going wrong for the Spurs on the defensive end with Gasol and Aldridge. It was stated that together, they are only having around 14 rebounds and two blocks per game. These numbers are subpar considering that both are over 6-foot-10 and should be the ones at least giving opposing teams a hard time grabbing the boards or hitting shots.

Maybe this is due to the fact that Aldridge and Gasol are leaning more towards offense - something that is inadvisable for the Spurs, according to ClutchPoints. It was explained that if one or both of them are scoring well, then it is good for San Antonio. However, if they are not, then the team only has Kawhi Leonard to rely on.

Leonard is a great all-around player but even he needs help for the Spurs to keep their image of being among the powerhouse squads in the Western Conference.

If this dilemma continues for the Spurs, they might be required to remove either Aldridge or Gasol and seek for a defensive juggernaut in return.

When the Spurs do this, it can be expected for them to immediately have trade partners. Aldridge and Gasol are still two of the best big men in the National Basketball Association and teams will surely line up for a chance to land any of them.

For now, trading is not a priority for the Spurs since they are still winning. They are at 5-2 for the third spot in the West, just behind the Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Clippers who both hold a 6-1 record.
