Sacramento Kings trade rumors 2016: Kosta Koufos to Celtics?

In the pool of players the Sacramento Kings are rumored to be trading, center Kosta Koufos is the least mentioned, although there is a suggested trade which sends him to the Boston Celtics that will also help them resolve some of their roster issues.

Koufos joined the Kings last season as a free agent. Sacramento is already his fifth stop since being selected 23rd overall in the 2008 National Basketball Association (NBA) draft.

Last season was Koufos' first run with the Kings and he had a fine performance in 78 games (14 starts). He averaged 6.8 points and 5.4 rebounds, in 19 minutes of action per outing.

Maybe the reason why the Kings are reportedly aiming to deal Koufos away is because they already have All-Star DeMarcus Cousins and budding talent Willie Cauley-Stein at the no. 5 position. Along with this, a couple of big men were also added through this year's draft.

With Cousins and Cauley-Stein having most of the minutes, plus a bunch of newbies also expected to see action, Koufos' playing time is in jeopardy. Soon, this might lead to him becoming a benchwarmer.

In a potential trade with the Celtics, all of these issues will be eliminated.

Koufos will be a part of the Celtics and the Kings get forward Jonas Jerebko and guard R.J. Hunter.

The departure of Koufos prevents a crowded status at center and a versatile forward is added in Jerebko.

Meanwhile, Hunter could add depth at point guard which is an issue for the Kings. Standing at 6-foot-5, he is originally a shooting guard, which is a plus since he can play multiple positions.

This is a good exchange for the Kings who are looking to end a 10-year playoff drought in the upcoming season. Hopefully, the moves made in the off-season are enough to fulfill the mission.
