'Rizzoli & Isles' season 6 spoilers: can Jane and Maura outwit an intelligent psychopath? season 7 is shorter

(TNT/Facebook)

Street smart Jane and book smart Maura make quite a dynamic team. Last week, the ace crime-solving women tackled a blind witness to a murder and the Rizzolis received a visit from their cousin, Carlo. On Tuesday's sensational episode, Jane and Maura will be dealing with a minor girl's death.

As per the episode's synopsis provided by SpoilerTV, Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles are called in to investigate the death of a minor girl. The 16-year-old's body is dumped inside a cage. The murder scene certainly enrages Jane, who reveals she wants to put the killer in a cage of her own, reveals the episode's promotional clip.

But Jane and Maura have their hands tied when they find the killer. The murder is a highly intelligent and brilliant psychopath who sets up roadblocks for his arrest. Rizzoli and Isles have to overcome a psychiatrist's ethical issues in order to catch the elusive killer and put him behind bars once and for all.

But this is not the only problem the investigative pair will deal with. Apart from the frustrating situation with the psychiatrist, the stellar investigators receive firm opposition from a stubborn prosecutor. Looks like Jane and Maura are going to deal with an organized and smart criminal.

In fact, these roadblocks eventually get to Jane as she is seen cracking under the pressure. In the promotional clip, she threatens the psychopath that she will put him in prison and will make sure he never hurts anyone again.

While the crime-solving part of the episode does provide a tone of seriousness, Jane's couch problems and her brother Frankie's UFO sightings are sure to add a dash of humor to the episode.

Meanwhile, TVLine reports that "Rizzoli & Isles" has been renewed for a seventh season, albeit a shorter one. The 13-hour season seven is slated to air in the summer of 2016.

"Rizzoli & Isles" airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on TNT.
