'Rick and Morty' season 2 lands in the UK, creators say it's 'finally comin' home'

Rick and his grandson, Morty, have explored every possible inter-dimension imaginable but they are not done yet. The show has been confirmed for a third season and season two is still in full swing. The pairing in "Rick and Morty" had been such a huge hit, they are now also bringing season two to the UK.
Creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland sat down with Den of Geek and spoke about "Rick and Morty" and why England is going to love it. They admitted that their show pulled a lot of elements from UK's own sci-fi greats, "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" and "Doctor Who."
Harmon expounded, "I think we think that British sci-fi is better sci-fi and British children's stuff is better children's stuff, not that 'Rick and Morty's' a children's show. But stories about kids that come out of our imperial roots are better than the ones that come out of our colonial, litigious, modern, capitalist sensibility. I guess I'm talking about awesome fairy tales where kids are treated as equals by villains and told that they're going to get eaten. There's nothing shielding the audience from mythology."
To say that "Rick and Morty" is more adult-friendly than kid-friendly is saying the obvious, given that the show airs on Adult Swim. But what the creators want to point out is that it can also be kid-friendly, especially in the UK, given that the British are more "lenient" when it comes to shows with darker themes. Roiland goes as far as to say that "Rick and Morty" is "[finally] comin' home."
Speaking of the show's darker tones, Roiland reiterated that it is not hugely important for them that the show — and anything they create, really — elicits a response from viewers, whether positive or negative. What they primarily want to happen is to create something that they truly believe in and not worry about who gets offended. He also pointed out that they are not doing things to purposely upset their viewers.
"Rick and Morty" season two is currently showing in Adult Swim every Sunday. It premiered in the UK last Sept. 10 and is being aired via FOX.
