Redmi Note 3 vs LG G3: Metal bodied Note 3 has great features and design in an affordable package
When Xiaomi recently revealed the Redmi Note 3, many were surprised that the device came with premium features and a cheap price tag. However, it has to take on and beat other established devices like the LG G3 if it wants to become a success. Here is how these two devices compare.
Design
When the LG G3 was released, it was widely considered to be a device with premium looks. This was largely due to the fact that it comes with a metallic sheen on its plastic body. The slim bezels of the device further add to its great design but the smartphone has no fingerprint scanner. As for colors, the LG G3 comes in white, black, blue, violet, red and gold.
On the other hand, the Redmi Note 3 has a full metal body and has rounded edges that give it a premium look. Additionally, there is a fingerprint scanner on the back panel and the device comes in three colors: silver, gold and gray.
Display
Coming to display size, the LG G3 has a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 538 pixels per inch. As for the Redmi Note 3, it has 5.5-inch display with a lower resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 403 pixels per inch.
Specs
Here, the Mediatek Helio X10 chipset on the Redmi Note 3 gives it an edge and it is coupled with an octa-core CPU and PowerVR G6200 GPU. As for the LG G3, it has an older Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, coupled with quad-core CPU and an Adreno 330 GPU.
Memory
With no memory slot on the Redmi Note 3, there is no chance of external storage being added, while the LG G3 supports up to 128 GB. As for RAM, the 16 GB versions of each device have 2 GB onboard while the 32 GB versions of each have 3 GB onboard.
Camera
The 13 megapixel camera on the Redmi Note 3 has no OIS, but the 13 megapixel shooter on the LG G3 has OIS onboard.
Price
Comparing price, the LG G3 costs $432 unlocked while the 16 GB Redmi Note 3 has a starting price of $140 without a contract.
