'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date rumors: Retailers list release date of 'Red Dead Redemption 2'

Rockstar Games' upcoming western-themed open-world action adventure game "Red Dead Redemption 2" is expected to launch later this year. The studio remains tight-lipped about its release date, but recent listings have shared a more specific date.

(Rockstar Games)"Red Dead Redemption 2" to release September, reports say

A thread on Reddit has posted information from electronic store Media Markt's Polish website. The listing is for "Red Dead Redemption 2" pre-orders. Moreover, when asked about the claim, the marketing team of Media Markt responded to the Reddit user, saying, "I would like to inform you that our marketing department was informed by distributor of the game that its airing date is 3rd of October 2017."

Meanwhile, according to reports, Base, a U.K. retailer, listed "Red Dead Redemption" for release on Tuesday, Sept. 26. The news outlet believes that the listing is highly believable since blockbusters are usually launched on Tuesdays. Not to mention, Rockstar has previously announced that it will be launching the game in the fall.

The game studio has yet to confirm the latest claims, but it is expected to share new information quite soon. At Take-Two's recent financial report, the game publisher has teased big plans for the title. In addition, it claims that Rockstar Games will be releasing new information about the game as well as its online feature.

The first "Red Dead Redemption" title was launched in May of 2010, on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. It has sold over 14 million copies worldwide. In 2010, the title was awarded with Game of the Year and Best Original Game. It also scored the Best Song in a Game award and the Best Original Score award.

On a different note, gamers can check out an upcoming "Grand Theft Auto 5" single-player mod, "Red Dead Redemption 5," which will be made available on the game's PC version. It will launch in the summer.

More updates should roll out in the weeks to come.
