U.S. Presidential electoral map: recent changes suggest Hillary Clinton is winning
Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton was leading the polls when campaign started. As the rallies progressed, a change to presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's favor was seen. The recent polls, however, suggest that Clinton is gaining and her lead is widening.
270towin published its latest consensus on June 28 and it shows that Clinton has 253 electoral votes, while Trump has 191. Technically, a candidate needs 270 electoral votes to win. This means Clinton needs 17 more votes, while Trump has to convince 79 more.
The June 28 poll results published by Real Clear Politics also show that among the six states where Public Policy Polling (PPP) was held, five were in favor of Clinton. The data shows that in Pennsylvania, 46 percent of the participants voted for Clinton, while 42 percent voted for Trump. In Ohio, Clinton got 44 percent, while Trump got 40. In Iowa, Clinton had 41 percent of the votes compared to Trump's 39 percent.
Arizona was pro Trump as he gets 44 percent of the vote, while Clinton got 40 percent. Clinton leads in New Hampshire once again with 43 percent compared to Trump who got 39 percent. Last but not the least, Clinton garnered 47 percent in Wisconsin, while Trump garnered 39 percent.
If Clinton wins, she will become the first female American president. She was once the first lady of the country when her husband, Bill Clinton, became the 42nd president of the United States. Bill was president from 1993 to 2001.
Trump is known for being a businessman more than being a politician. He came from a rich family as his father was already into real estate development when he was born. He, however, has surpassed his father's popularity, and, while he faced bankruptcy decades ago, he managed to put his business back on track.
Changes could still happen, as the elections won't take place until Nov. 8.
