'Ray Donavan' season 3 spoilers: fans worried after exit of show's creator and producer; list of guest stars confirmed
Showtime has announced a premiere date for the upcoming third season of "Ray Donovan". Fans of the show have already been clamoring for information about what will happen next in the series. There is some confirmation about the cast, though a change in the overall direction and style of "Ray Donovan" might be due, as several of the show's decision makers are said to have left at the onset of season 3.
"Ray Donovan" premiered in June 2013 and the story revolves around the titular character played by Liev Schreiber who works for the powerful law firm Goldman & Drexler as a "fixer", or a person who arranges payments to law enforcement authorities so that the accused can get away with a crime.
Its dark narrative and reversal of focus from the usual good guy protagonists has been well received with the show garnering 75 out of 100 from Metacritic and 76 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
The second season of the show ended haphazardly with elements of the episode seemingly rushed. Upon its airing, fans believed that the nature of the finale's quality was such because it could have been a fit for a series that has ended before its time.
While avid viewers can now rest easy since the show has been renewed and a release date has been set, there is still apprehension about the upcoming season, as Anne Biderman, the series creator, has left after completion of the prior installment. To add to the worries of the show's fans was the recent announcement made by Cheo Hodari Coker, the producer of "Ray Donovan" which confirmed that he would also be leaving to focus on the upcoming Marvel's "Luke Cage".
However, there is some solace for fans as Showtime has confirmed the list of guest stars to be featured in the upcoming season. The show's most highly anticipated star is probably Katie Holmes whose character named Paige is rumored to be Ray's love interest.
The fifth season of "Ray Donovan" airs on July 12, 2015 on Showtime.
