'Prometheus 2' movie news: Noomi Rapace set to return in 'Alien: Covenant'
Following the success of "Prometheus" in 2012, it seems fans will start getting more information on the sequel to the film titled "Alien: Covenant" as it has recently been revealed that Noomi Rapace will return to the cast.
Over the past few years, it was believed that Rapace wouldn't be a part of "Prometheus 2" as there has been no word from production regarding her character. However, Deadline reports that several sources confirm Rapace is in Australia shooting scenes with Michael Fassbender and the others.
Rapace played the role of Elizabeth Shaw in "Prometheus" and she was one of the fan-favorite characters who knew how to handle aliens well. Aside from her expertise in the field of science, Elizabeth is also known for her combat abilities such as working with an axe.
There have been numerous rumors about the possible storyline that will be depicted in the sequel. Some believe that the upcoming movie will tell the tale of how man came into being. David will reportedly embark on a journey of discovering how man was created and why Xenomorphs were built.
Another cast member has been confirmed to join the film: Katherine Waterston. According to Digital Spy, the actress will play the role of Daniels, who is possibly a member of the Covenant's crew.
It has yet to be unveiled what exactly the plot will be for "Prometheus 2" but Fassbender told Metro U.K. last month that fans should expect some grisly scenes such as "aliens coming out of people."
Aside from aliens conquering man, Fassbender teased that the sets will once again be a sight to behold. "The sets are fantastic. Again, the most impressive sets I've seen since 'Prometheus,' which was the original setting. It's a fantastic mixture of high-end technology and primitive elements. The way that I can explain it is the same way that Ridley [Scott] did Blade Runner," the actor explained.
"Prometheus 2," now titled "Alien Covenant," is slated to hit big screens on August 4, 2017.
