'Prison Break' sequel will give logical explanation as to why Michael Scofield is still alive; Sarah Wayne up for return to show

Fans of "Prison Break" siblings, Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell, had a treat recently when the two were cast as Captain Cold and Heatwave in last season's "The Flash." Luckily for their fans, a sequel to "Prison Break" has been confirmed and the two will once again be reprising their roles as Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows.
The news that Fox had greenlighted a 10-episode "Prison Break" sequel generated a lot of enthusiasm and excitement from fans, but it also raised the question as to how the series will work around one crucial detail – Scofield's death in season four.
In the direct-to-video follow-up slash finale "The Final Break," Scofield (Miller) presumably died from a brain tumor after successfully breaking Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies) from the Miami-Dade county penitentiary.
Fox Chairman and CEO, Gary Newman, initially said that the sequel would ignore the events of "The Final Break." But he quickly corrected himself and said that while they can't ignore what had happened in "Prison Break's" final season, series creator, Paul Scheuring, has come up with "a logical and believable explanation to why the characters are alive and still moving around the world."
Aside from Miller and Purcell, Fox co-chairman, Dana Walden, said that "some of the iconic characters will be back." But whether one of those characters is Sarah Wayne Callies is still a mystery. "The Walking Dead" actress, who played Scofield's love interest, Sara, has said that she would love to be back "if we can find a way to honor [Sara and Michael] by telling a beautiful continuing story;" and if her "Colony" bosses will allow her to shoot another series.
While "Prison Break" being back is welcome news indeed, some fans are worried that the sequel will interfere with Miller and Purcell's commitment to "Legends of Tomorrow." But the two actors were quick to point out that this won't be a problem.
As a matter of fact, "Prison Break's" sequel is being considered for a summer release and production will start next year, once Miller and Purcell are done with The CW's "Legends of Tomorrow."
