'Prison Break' season 5 filming starts this month; Faran Tahir cast as Jamil

The fifth season of "Prison Break" has started filming this month in Vancouver, Canada. Although Fox has not officially announced the release date of the upcoming action drama, it is rumored to premiere in September this year. The show will also return with a new face, as "American Crime" star Faran Tahir will join the cast for a recurring role named Jamil.
The news about Tahir's part on the upcoming sequel of the show was announced through his Twitter handle.
An exclusive interview with The Express Tribune revealed how Tahir scored the role. He recalled that the TV series actually approached his agent about this specific role, which he accepted. He is also looking forward to working with fellow co-stars Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, and Sarah Wayne Callies, among others.
"The beauty of the show is the reunion of all these loved characters with the inclusion of some new ones. What I can say is that the story has been taken forward in a very smart way," he added.
He denied the assumption that he will play a typical Muslim man on the show. He even admitted that he does not usually accept stereotypical roles. The man that he will be playing as is different from his previous roles and from what most people expect.
"I will be playing the role of a man who has an inner conflict which again is something I love experimenting with ... I always enjoy playing characters that have a very human element [to them]," he explained.
He also admitted that he is the type of actor who studies his characters before accepting the offer. When the role is written with negativity that he thinks is not justified, then he either discusses it with the director and the writing team of the project or just decline the offer.
"Prison Break" season 5 premiere will be revealed soon, but if speculations are proven to be true, then it is expected to come out this coming September.
