'Pokken Tournament' updates: new tournament fighter and support character being unveiled on Dec. 10
Bandai Namco might have come up with the best thing since slice bread with "Pokken Tournament" as the Japanese arcade game combines "Tekken's" gameplay with "Pokemon" characters. Now fans of the game are apparently getting a new fighter and an additional Pokemon support for Christmas.
The fighting game is fun and engaging, as expected from a game chock-full of cute characters that brought their Mega Evolutions and special moves to the fight. However, the current roster of "Pokken Tournament" fighters is admittedly quite limited. But developer Bandai Namco is set to change that by introducing a new fighter to the tournament.
The announcement was made via a tweet from "Pokken Tournament's" official Twitter account. The post, while in Japanese, mentioned that a new fighter will be joining the tournament on Dec. 10. A new fan-picked Pokemon support will reportedly be introduced as well. The announcement was sadly devoid of details, but it was hinted that the new fighter has the Japanese character ン in its name. The symbol is said to be the rough equivalent of the English letter "n."
The simple hint has made it possible to come out with choices as to which of the numerous Pokemon characters might be the game's newest addition. "IDigitalTimes" has enumerated some possible names like fully evolved Absol, Arcanine, Bisharp, Conkeldurr, Donphan, Emboar, Salamence, Sceptile, Slaking, Snorlax and Typhlosion. Coming with names of possible support Pokémon characters is more challenging though as they are not required to be fully evolved Pokémon.
The new Pokemon fighter will be joining the characters that are on the roster – Blaziken, Charizard, Gardevoir, Gengar, Lucario, Machamp, Pikachu, Pikachu Libre, Suicune and Weavile. The support characters are comprised of Emolga, Eevee, Fennekin, Frogadier, Jirachi, Lapras, Mismagius, Ninetales, Whimsicott and Snivy. Shadow Mewtwo will reportedly be the featured character in the boss fight.
"Pokken Tournament" was released in Japan in July and is slated to be released internationally on the Wii U in spring 2016.
