'Pokémon GO' release date details may be revealed in December

(Nintendo / The Pokemon Company)

Maybe Christmas will be a little bit sweeter for all Pokémon fans out there. New rumours have surfaced pointing to "Pokémon GO" finally getting a definite release date by next month.

HNGN reports that Nintendo will finally ink the anticipated "Pokémon GO" release date this December. They quoted information from Japanese magazine CoroCoro. In this month's issue, CoroCoro revealed that they have new information on the game's release date when the December issue came out. Readers then hoped and assumed that it will already be the definitive release date.

There has always been an assumption that augmented reality game "Pokémon GO" will release in 2016. Some rumours even pinned an exact date, that being Feb. 27. Some are crossing their fingers that the latter rumour pans out, especially now that February is only three months away.

The mentioned date holds a certain significance for the Pokemon franchise. It is the same date that the very first Pokemon games, "Pokémon Red Version" and "Pokémon Blue Version," released in Japan. So dropping the latest (and probably most innovative to date) game in the franchise on Feb. 27 really makes a lot of sense.

While fans await the announcement for the game's release date though, some details have already slipped about the game. It's a well-known fact that "Pokémon GO" will utilise Niantic's technology when it comes to augmented reality games. Fans of the franchise can finally experience being "real life Pokémon trainers" via the use of the Nintendo-developed Pokémon Go Plus wearable device that will interact with the mobile game. Bluetooth-enabled, the Pokémon GO Plus will sound off if there's a "virtual" Pokémon nearby.

Those who want to further their Pokémon skills and knowledge before the game releases may also visit an edutainment gym opened in Japan. The gym, named Pokémon EXPO Gym, has different stops and training centres that allow visitors to know more about the different Pokémons and to acquire different skills as a trainer. Pokémon EPO gym opened this November and sells tickets for its different areas for ¥400 to ¥600 ($3 to $5).

Stay tuned for further updates regarding "Pokémon GO's" release date.
