'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' release date, news: New synopsis reveals Captain Sparrow's new vessel
No one can make the theme of pirates look attractive, funny, and legendary all at the same time other than Disney, and this time it aims to reprise that glory once more with "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales."
In the recently released synopsis for the franchise's fifth installment, it illustrates the perilous situation the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is in. He has made a ferocious enemy in Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), a terribly frightful pirate who leads a rather ghastly crew from the depths of the Devil's Triangle. Their goal is lay waste to every pirate at sea, most especially Jack.
In order to save himself, he needs to find the Trident of Poseidon, allowing him to thwart the incoming danger, although the quest to find the legendary item isn't as easy as it sounds. He hesitantly recruits the aid of the brilliant and aspiring astronomer Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), and a young sailor of the Royal Navy named Henry (Brenton Thwaites), who could possibly be Will and Elizabeth Turner's son.
The funny thing about the released summary though is it introduces Jack's new, appropriately named "ship," the Dying Gull. From the description of "pitifully small and shabby," one can assume that it may simply be a tiny boat. It can be recalled in previous films that Jack has been sailing on a diminutive vessel, given the fact that the Black Pearl has been taken from him. If anything, this adds to the hilarity of the fifth film.
One could consider "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" as the franchise's shot at redemption. The fourth film "On Stranger Tides" had a rather dismal performance compared to other installments in the saga, with the debut title "The Curse of the Black Pearl" doing better, as is illustrated by The Numbers. The fifth movie will attempt to return to the theme that made the franchise well-renowned in the first place.
"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" sails its way onto cinemas on May 26, 2017.
