Philadelphia 76ers trade news 2016: Kendall Marshall sent to Utah Jazz for Tibor Pleiss

The Philadelphia 76ers are getting younger after sending point guard Kendall Marshall to the Utah Jazz, who quickly waived him, in exchange for center Tibor Pleiss and two future second-round draft picks.

Marshall joined the 76ers in September of 2015 but did not play immediately for the team. He was first sent to the Developmental League (D-League) while he was recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. Last December, he was added to the main roster. And in the same month, he made his debut for Philly.

In 30 games (six starts) for the Sixers, Marshall averaged 3.7 points with 2.4 assists in 13.3 minutes of action per outing.

Before heading to the City of Brotherly Love, Marshall saw action for the Phoenix Suns (drafted him 13th overall in 2012), Los Angeles Lakers and the Milwaukee Bucks.

Because the Jazz waived Marshall, he is now available on the market and organizations searching for a playmaker may want to give him a chance.

The Sacramento Kings are among the teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA) looking for a point guard this off-season.

Meanwhile, it is uncertain what the Sixers plan on doing with Pleiss. Likely, the 26-year-old German big man is going to be a trade piece as the squad already deals with a crowded frontcourt.

As of the moment, aside from Pleiss, the Sixers also have Nerlens Noel, Jahlil Okafor and Joel Embiid at center. Two of them, Noel and Okafor, were placed on the trade block this off-season as the franchise attempts to address the logjam at the no. 4 and 5 positions.

Another option for the 76ers regarding Pleiss is to send him to the D-League. At least when this is accomplished, they will have a young center who they can call up if someone gets hurt and a roster spot must be filled while the 2016-17 season is ongoing.
