"Persona 5" is expected to make some big changes to the franchise's formula, and no aspect of the game may be as significantly tweaked as its combat system.

In previous installments of the RPG franchise, playable characters usually stuck to one specific weapon type over the course of the game, but that may be set to change.

Instead of just one, playable characters may soon be utilizing two different kinds of weapons.

Hints about the characters potentially being able to wield more than just one specific weapon type have seemingly been made available since last year.

In the game's official trailer, fans can even catch a quick glimpse of the in-game equipment menu that shows an option to change weapons and another one that seemingly suggests that players can also choose between different guns.

Later on in the trailer, players are also given a quick look at a battle in which the protagonist can be seen wielding a firearm while the other party members appear to be using melee weapons.

While it certainly seems as though characters will now be allowed to use more than one particular weapon type, what's unclear is if they will also be able to switch between the two over the course of a single battle.

Aside from potentially major changes being made to the battle system, "Persona 5" may also allow players to explore more of the environment around them.

According to Trusted Reviews, players may soon be able to explore different settings with more freedom in the latest installment of the franchise, though exactly how much freedom will be given to players is still a mystery.

With numerous changes potentially in the works, "Persona 5" could turn out to be one of the more unique titles from the franchise, and fans may be able to find out more about it when it is released later this year.
