'Persona 5' gameplay news: Persona fusion system detailed; new Special Training feature added

(Persona 5 official web site)Players will be able to fuse Personas again in 'Persona 5,' and they can train them too

The opportunity to collect Personas and to then fuse them together in order to create new ones has been a staple of earlier games from the franchise, and that same feature is set to be included again in "Persona 5."

Similar to earlier titles, the upcoming installment of the series will again allow players to create new Personas in the Velvet Room. In earlier games, some of the most powerful Personas were obtainable only through fusing different spirits together and that will likely be the case again.

Interestingly, it also looks as though players may be able to do more than just house and fuse Personas in the upcoming game's Velvet Room.

As noted over on the game's official website, a new Special Training feature will now be included in "Persona 5."

The Special Training feature is designed to help players further strengthen the Personas they already command, shoring up their previously existing weaknesses and also enhancing their already evident strengths.

The new Special Training feature can come in really handy for elemental Personas, as the enhancements may enable them to go up against more opponents and still succeed.

Personas are obviously essential components of the upcoming game.

More often than not, they can make an enormous difference in battle as their elemental leanings can provide an advantage over certain opponents, while others can simply dominate thanks to their exceptional array of offensive moves.

The Personas that players can get from the Velvet Room as a result of the fusions are typically accessible only to the protagonist, with the other playable characters being given their own signature Personas that they can use in battle.

Players can learn even more about the Personas that will be featured in "Persona 5" when the game is released in Japan on Sept. 15, while fans in North America will be able to get it on Feb. 14.
