'Outlander' season 3 premiere spoilers: Sam Heughan excited to meet the new John Grey

(Starz)Jamie and Claire will be reunited in "Outlander" season 3, but the reunion may not be as sweet.

In an interaction with fans, actor Sam Heughan revealed that he is excited to meet John Grey. A younger version of the character played by actor Oscar Kennedy was shown in the previous season. John will be a 20-year-older version in "Outlander" season 3 and the actor who will play the role is still unknown.

During a Q&A session with his followers on Twitter, Heughan was asked, "What character is your favorite in Voyager?" He then replied, "John Grey is going to be interesting to meet…!"
Those who have read the novel where the series is based from will know Lord John Grey as the closeted gay Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) forms a friendship with during the years he and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) are apart.

By the end of season 2, Claire found out that Jamie has lived and, in the upcoming season, a reunion is bound to happen. It will not be a happy one though, according to reports. Season 3 will show Jamie involved in illegal activities that Claire will be upset about. In the book, Jamie and John figured in a relationship, but this will not necessarily be followed in the TV adaptation.

The show has already been renewed for season 4 and, during an interview with Bustle, executive producer Ronald Moore said, "Our goal is still to try and be faithful as we can to the books." He added, "I think the longer that you go, the more the TV series inevitably veers from the book and certain plot lines then take on a life of their own."

Season 1 has been faithful to the book adaptation, but changes were already made in season, which includes Claire's PTSD condition, the relationship between Rupert and Angus, and the characterization of Frank.

Filming for season 3 is expected to start soon with the release happening in the first quarter of 2017.
