'Outlander' season 2 news: Casting Call for actress to play Brianna; Ricky Gervais to make guest appearance?

"Outlander" season two is scheduled to premiere in the spring of next year but details surrounding its return have already surfaced.
According to several reports, the cast and crew of the show are already in the midst of filming and since season two would introduce new characters, not only has a casting call for a very interesting addition been released but speculations hint that a very popular British personality might guest star on "Outlander's" second season.
TVLine recently got their hands on the casting call for Claire and Jamie's daughter, Brianna. In "Dragonfly in Amber," the second book from Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" series, which the TV program is based on, a significant time jump would happen between the first and the second installments.
And as expected, the casting call for Brianna describes the character to be a 5'8" young lady who is "earthy and grounded and not girly but with inexperience and vulnerability."
Sony Pictures, the company that produces the show, has also confirmed the casting rumors in a statement addressed to TVLine, which reads:
"Fans of the books will know that [Brianna] first appears in the second book, 'Dragonfly in Amber,' which corresponds to the season we are currently filming, but continues on to have several major storylines as noted in the casting search,"
While news about Brianna's casting is exciting enough, it seems like one famous celebrity might appear on Starz's "Outlander." Last Sept. 1, 2015, Sam Heughan, the actor who plays Jamie, tweeted British comedian and former pop star, Ricky Gervais, asking if he might be interested in guest starring in the show.
"Maybe a cameo in @Outlander_Starz by @rickygervais ??" asked Heughan on Twitter.
In jest, Gervais answered asking about the details of his appearance on the show. He tweeted, "@SamHeughan @Outlander_Starz @RadioTimes 2 Questions. 1. What are the hours? 2. Will you make me wear a tartan skirt?"
Gervais has yet to confirm whether or not he has agreed to appear on "Outlander" season two.
"Outlander" season two is expected to return on Starz early next year.
