'Orange Is the New Black' season 4 spoilers: is Piper in danger?

"Orange Is the New Black" will soon be returning to Netflix for a fourth season. Major changes are in store for the ladies of Litchfield Prison. But the changes might prove fatal for one inmate — Piper.
Fans might say that season 3 had been tumultuous, but it's apparently nothing compared to what's in store for them this season. The previous season saw work being done on Litchfield Prison to accommodate more inmates, a situation that will reportedly power a lot of the drama next season.
A recently released trailer for the upcoming episode teases how much the women's penitentiary has changed. One scene shows a large group of women wearing orange jumpsuits standing around a large room, separated from the others. As one inmate explains, "it's sardines time" because the place has been turned into a for-profit prison. And it really is crowded, with lines in the cafeteria and the showers. There are also more inmates than usual in the rec room. Caputo (Nick Sandow) is also heard telling a woman in a business suit that he's dying because he has a hundred new inmates. There appears to be new and stricter rules as well. There are certainly more guards and they appear to be quite brusque against the women. Taystee (Danielle Brooks) is also shown working with the warden, answering phones.
The clip also hints at some tension among the inmates. Maria Ruiz (Jessica Pimentel) is shown walking up to Piper (Taylor Schilling) and tells her that she's going to bury her, while in another scene, a new inmate goes up against one of the Black Girls. There also shots of guards in riot gear arriving and Piper telling someone that she's starting to feel unsafe in prison.
That's certainly true, as season 3 saw Piper at her worst — ratting out Alex (Laura Prepon), framing Stella (Ruby Rose), and shortchanging those helping her in her used panty business. Chickens might be coming home to roost this season so Piper would do well to watch her back.
Season 4 of "Orange Is the New Black" will return to Netflix on June 17.
