Marvel isn't the only one to have a Civil War in its cinematic universe, a big war is also in the horizon for "One Punch Man's" second season.

"One Punch Man's" rise in popularity is nothing short of phenomenal, as fans have eagerly lapped up both the manga and anime versions of Saitama. Avid fans of the hero will be happy to know that the second season of the anime is headed to Toonami this year. According to the show's official Twitter account, "One Punch Man" will be coming to the network by the end of the year.

Madhouse, the anime's production company, initially awarded streaming rights to Viz Media. But as the broadcast rights are also with Toonami now, the anime will soon be aired in more countries, something that anime fans will undoubtedly appreciate.

There's no official news yet on what season 2's story arc will be, although that hasn't stopped fans from speculating. According to the rumor mill, the next season will allegedly focus on Saitama's backstory and the mystery behind his powerful punch. The character is notorious for having trouble remembering names, places and events, leading fans to believe that this might be connected to his past.

If the series will follow the manga, then season 2 might see a battle between two superhero groups — Hero's Association and Hero Hunters — that's reminiscent of the war between Iron Man, Captain America, and their respective supporters.

Like Hero's Association, Hero Hunters is composed of superheroes. But the two groups reportedly have bad blood between them, with Hero Hunters determined to end the existence of Hero's Association. To that end, the former has taken to recruiting possible S-class heroes. Saitama ably represents Hero's Association, while his erstwhile protégé Genos has allied himself with the Hero Hunters.

Interestingly, while the cyborg is loyal to the Hunters, he also believes that the organization's corrupt ways will lead to its downfall sooner or later.

No release date has been set yet for "One Punch Man" season 2, but fans are expecting it to be released in November or December.
