NVIDIA Pascal GPU release date fixed for April 2016
Rumors about the new GPU from NVIDIA have been circulating nonstop, and the latest one indicates that the company has got a leg up on AMD, and plans to introduce the Pascal GPU soon. This means that NVIDIA could have a significant advantage in the GPU race.
Reporting on the rumors surrounding the GPU with the Pascal architecture, Kotaku states that NVIDIA looks set to beat AMD when it releases its GPU. As for AMD it was so far rumored that its GPU with the Polaris architecture would be first to release in the market. However, the past few days has seen this rumor being turned on its head even as AMD brought down the price of the Radeon R9 Nano to $849.
With several VR headsets arriving in the market this year, the price drop was seen as an attempt by AMD to attract customers towards it. However all this could be in vain as NVIDIA looks set to employ the Pascal architecture in all its GPUs and start churning them out by April of this year. Importantly there are also rumors that when the new GPUs arrive they will be marketed as "TITAN-grade" which goes to show that they will be replacing the current offerings that are marketed under the "TITAN" brand.
As for the main GP100 chip with the Pascal architecture from NVIDIA it is thought that it will come with 32GB of VRAM. These rumors about the GPUs with the Pascal architecture are currently based on shipping manifests that have spotted on the Zauba database in India which deals with products that are imported or exported from the country.
Coming to the unveiling of the Pascal GPU it is thought it could happen in April during the GPU Technology Conference. At this particular conference Jen-Hsun Huang the CEO of NVIDIA is due to speak and he could very well unveiled the GPU.
