NVIDIA Pascal GPU release date: could come on GeForce Graphics Cards in May
With rumors indicating that NVIDIA was going to reveal its Pascal graphics cards at GTC 2016, there was much disappointment when the event came and went with no news about it. Now all rumors are pointing toward the NVIDIA Pascal GPU arriving just before Computex 2016 kicks off.
Reporting on the rumors surrounding the NVIDIA Pascal GPU, WCCFTech states that since the chip was seen during GTC 2016 but the GeForce Graphic Cards were not launched, there is evidence that they will be showcased later. This upcoming event, which is devoted to the GeForce Graphic Cards, is described as the NVIDIA Editor's Event and it is scheduled to take place sometime before Computex 2016 this year.
This particular rumor about the GeForce Graphic Cards was fueled by invites that were sent out to the press. People started receiving these invites during the GTC Keynote, which was focused on the Drive PX 2 module. Importantly, the invites did not mention if NVIDIA will allow live coverage of the upcoming event and if subsequently the press embargo will be lifted.
Industry analysts are pretty certain, however, that by the time the three GeForce Graphic Cards are showcased, reviews will be written about them and these will be posted on the public domain by the middle of May. So far, the names of the upcoming graphics cards have not been revealed by NVIDIA, but it is widely thought that they will be named the GeForce GTX 1080, GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, and GeForce GTX 1070. WCCFTech, however, appears to indicate that these names will not be used when the graphics cards release and these are just being circulated as part of a misleading rumor.
Meanwhile, at GTC 2016, Jen-Hsun Huang the CEO of NVIDIA showcased the Drive PX 2 module, and eagle-eyed observers were quick to point out that it has the new Pascal GPUs on board. This indicates that NVIDIA is close to showcasing the Pascal GPU to the press.
