'No Man's Sky' release date update: New trailer video to launch this week? Rumors of VR support continue to swirl

"No Man's Sky," one of the most anticipated video games, will finally be released this June 2016 after spending more than three years in development. With its release date imminent, it seems that Hello Games is prepping to release new content to hype up the game's release.

Hello Games founder Sean Murray recently held a LAN party session with several gaming journalists last Feb. 24. Journalist Benjamin Kratsch revealed on Twitter that he was one of the journalists invited to the event.

According to Kratsch's Twitter updates, Hello Games is still continuously working on the game. He described their schedule as "brutal work" with the developers working on it almost every day and even sleeping in the office most of the time. He also revealed that the developers have codenamed the game's engine as "Hello Engine." Without going into much detail, he also described the game as beautiful and mind-blowing.

Kratsch gave a few updates on the game but did not give specific information. Apparently, Sony had asked the journalists to sign contracts banning them from revealing game details until sometime this week.

It seems that since the embargo will be lifted soon, it is likely that Sony and Hello Games might release a new trailer during that time.

Rumors are also floating that "No Man's Sky" may come with support for Virtual Reality (VR), especially with the upcoming release of Sony's Morpheus VR headset. Given the expansive open-world setting of "No Man's Sky" spanning over 18 quintillion planets, exploring the planets in VR would definitely be interesting.

"I don't know what I'm allowed to say. It's something we're thinking about. Morpheus, Oculus... There's nothing more cool and sci-fi than VR and a big procedural universe. I think that, for the people who want to just explore, and even for the space combat and things like that, it would be a good fit. Let's put it that way," Murray revealed back in 2015.

Having VR support could also be the reason for the game's delay and the team's continuous working schedule. Unfortunately, Sony and Hello Games have not made any official announcements regarding VR.

Stay tuned for all the latest news and updates.

"No Man's Sky" is scheduled for a June 2016 release. It will available for play on the PlayStation 4 and the Microsoft Windows PC.
