New Orleans Pelicans free agency, trade rumors 2016: Another chance for Lance Stephenson?
Guard Lance Stephenson may have hit a roadblock and became a free agent, but his time with the New Orleans Pelicans might resume once he fully recovers from his surgery.
A few days ago, Stephenson suffered a groin injury and needed to undergo a medical procedure to address it. Because of this, the struggling Pelicans waived him and the vacant roster spot was filled by signing Archie Goodwin.
However, it is not the end of the road for Stephenson, who was putting up good performances for New Orleans.
In a tweet by ESPN's Marc Stein, there could be a possibility the Pelicans are having Stephenson back when he is at 100 percent.
The Pelicans, I'm told, have told Lance Stephenson they will participate in his injury rehab in New Orleans or wherever he wishes to do it.

This is good news for Stephenson because there is a team waiting for him as he heals. However, nothing is etched in stone and things can change as the 2016-17 National Basketball Association season progresses.
The Pelicans are expected to seek for more help with them still failing to capture their first victory of the season. Once the new additions show they are enough, Stephenson may have to spend time again on the market and look for a new squad or he might play overseas.
This season, Stephenson played in six games as a reserve for New Orleans. He averaged 9.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 27 minutes of action per contest.
The Pelicans were among the few teams that had interest in Stephenson during the off-season when he was not re-signed by the Memphis Grizzlies.
Up next for the Pelicans is a road trip to take on the Milwaukee Bucks who already defeated them this season in their home arena.
Aside from the Bucks, the Denver Nuggets, Golden State Warriors (twice), San Antonio Spurs, Grizzlies, Phoenix Suns, and the Sacramento Kings have kept the Pelicans winless this season.
