The newlywed couple begins the house hunting in the upcoming premiere episode, titled "House Hunt," of the sixth season of the American comedy series "New Girl."

Jess (Zooey Deschanel) is having a hard time forgetting Nick and she is doing everything she could to get him off her mind. Nick (Jake Johnson), on the other hand, surprises everybody with his sudden return from his summer in New Orleans. The gang is not expecting him to come home sooner and this may put Jess in an awkward position.

Meanwhile, the newlywed couple, Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Cece (Hannah Simone), will start looking for their first home. Winston (Lamorne Morris) faces the struggles of being in a long-distance relationship with Aly (Nasim Pedrad).

It can be noted that for the first few episodes of the season, Johnson will have lesser screen time since he is busy with his other projects. The actor has been confirmed to join Tom Cruise in the upcoming reboot film "The Mummy." Because of his noticeable absence from the series, there have been speculations that the actor may be planning to depart from the show. Apparently, the actor has cleared the rumors and assured fans that he will stay.

In other news, Deschanel also confirmed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that the upcoming season will have a double crossover episode with another hit comedy series, "Brooklyn Nine-Nine." She revealed that the gang will end up in New York, where "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" is set, to accompany Schmidt who will be receiving an award from his high school.

Apart from Schmidt and Cece, fans of the show are still rooting for Nick and Jess to be together again. In a previous interview with E! Online, series creator Liz Meriwether revealed that although the idea of Nick and Jess rekindling their romance is still unsure, she admitted that it is one of their constant topics.

She explained, "We do always have conversations about their relationship and as writers and as an audience, what do we want to see and what feels real."

"New Girl" season 6 premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 8:30 p.m. on ABC.
