With the way the previous season of the hugely popular show "NCIS" had ended, fans are already speculating about what could happen in the upcoming season. Most of the show's avid viewers are worried about "NCIS" losing a cast member, especially with the way the finale had played out. Thankfully, the latest reports indicate that the answer to the question raised by the last episode of season 12 will be provided immediately at the onset of the premiere of the upcoming season.

"NCIS", which is the "second longest-running scripted non-animated" TV show in the US, has been on air since 2003. The show's success has spawned two spin-off series and it was voted as America's favorite television show in 2011.

Season 12 ended with a gunshot and Agent Jethro Gibbs seen at the losing end of a gun, which was fired as the episode ended. After such a massive cliffhanger, fans have been left with just one harrowing question - Is Agent Gibbs dead?"

In a report by Ischoolguide.com, Gary Glasberg, has commented on the Agent Gibbs scene, saying:

"Regardless of the outcome, any time that Gibbs or one of our family members is in danger or injured, it significantly affects everyone. We'll have to see the long-term effects and the psychological effects, but they'll undoubtedly, as they always are, be there for each other."

While the producer's comments are the only spoilers that fans have for now, a recent interview with Mark Harmon, the actor playing Agent Gibbs, seems to hint at the fate of his character in the show.

"I really believe this, but I think anybody in the show is replaceable. The truth births, characters leaving. It always has, and I always think there's always been a creative footprint on the show. I think it keeps actors healthy."

"NCIS" season 13 is scheduled to premiere this fall.
