Derrick Rose could very well be one of the players who changes teams this coming offseason, but could a move to a different city be good for the league's former MVP?

Rose has been the subject of trade rumors lately, and they may be spelling the end of his tenure in the Windy City.

As mentioned in a recent article from Basketball Insiders, "league sources in Italy say the Bulls are actively open to moving guard Derrick Rose."

Numerous teams could look to trade for Rose should Chicago decide to make him truly available, chief among them will likely be teams that are still looking for a starting point guard.

The New York Knicks are one of those teams that will likely be in the market for a starting point guard, seeing as how the status of the position for them can probably be best described as unsettled.

This past season, the Knicks relied on guards such as Jose Calderon and Jerian Grant to handle the position, and while the two have their good points, it would not be all that surprising if the team chose to bring in someone new who can take over the position, especially if they are looking to contend for the championship next season.

Rose could very well be that player who helps take the Knicks to the next level, and in the past, he has shown that he can be one of the NBA's best.

Unfortunately, Rose has not been quite as good these recent seasons as he was back near the start of the decade, and it's an open question as to whether or not he can ever go back to the player he once was.

If there is hope for Rose being reinvigorated in New York, it hinges on a few factors, with one of them being the potentially positive impact that a change of scenery can bring.

Rose has had to bear the burden of being the Bulls' franchise player pretty much since he entered the league, but with the Knicks, he can be alleviated of that pressure and he can also be allowed to settle into a role more fitting for his current abilities.

On top of that, the Knicks are also expected to play faster under new head coach Jeff Hornacek next season and that could benefit Rose, who himself has thrived in open court play.

The Knicks trading for Rose is far from guaranteed to take place this summer, but if such a transaction ever takes place, then it could be a beneficial move for both sides.
