'NBA 2KVR Experience' release date, news: Game out today for $14.99
For those who have always wanted to get an immersive, firsthand experience at playing basketball on the court in front of hundreds of screaming fans, look no further. "NBA 2KVR Experience" was released today and lets fans live out their basketball dreams.
Narrated by "NBA 2K17" cover athlete Paul George, the game takes players to a whole new level of NBA gaming. The game is available on the PlayStation 4 VR, HTC Vive, and Samsung Gear VR. Using virtual reality (VR) technology, players get a good feel of what it would be like to play at the Indiana Pacers' stadium.
"Our team consistently looks for new ways to deliver unique, fun experiences for the gamer," said President of Visual Concepts Greg Thomas in a press release. "'NBA 2KVR' will give fans even more access to our franchise and test new skills across entertaining VR challenges."
George will act as the players' mentor, guiding them all throughout with voice narratives and commentary. The game is not 2K's typical "NBA 2K" style of playing, though. Instead of a full game, it comprises mini-games that test the player's skills on the court. It has a three-point shootout challenge, a speed and accuracy challenge, and a buzzer beater countdown, according to the press release. There are also Gatorade boosts that players can gain. These boosts will help them with their shooting, speed, and recovery. There will also be a leaderboard so players can see where they stand among all others.
The game was released today for $14.99, which is a reasonable price considering that it is not a full game. Fans who are thinking about purchasing the game can watch the trailer, which boasts of a first-person look at what the gameplay will be like. The different challenges are also showcased in the video, as well as the Gatorade boost.
More news and updates should be revealed soon.
