'Nashville' season 5 spoilers: Repercussions of Rayna's death to be revealed

Rayna James' (Connie Britton) devastating death will open up more dramas on the next episode of "Nashville" season 5.
Fans of the series were heartbroken when the country music superstar and owner of the Highway 65 record label succumbed to death after being hit by a car. While loyal viewers of the country musical drama were shocked to see one of the lead characters gone from the series, Britton admitted that she actually wanted her character to end for quite a while.
"It was my decision," the actress told The Hollywood Reporter. "It was something that, for various reasons, had been percolating for me. What was really important to me was that it felt like the right time."
But the events after Rayna's death will have a bigger repercussion on the series, which will be seen on the upcoming episode.
In an interview with TVLine, executive producer Marshall Herskovitz revealed that the next episode of "Nashville" season 5 will center on Rayna's funeral and its aftermath. According to Herskovitz, the episode called "I'll Fly Away" could be considered as "the most powerful hour of television" that he has been involved with for the past 20 years.
"I think it will really help the audience process their feelings about Rayna," the executive producer stated. "I can't put it any other way. It's just so musical and so lyrical and so full of love. And you just see into each person's well of grief and love and feeling and connection."
The next episode will also deal with a legal dispute that will put another disruption within Rayna's grieving family, based on the synopsis for the episode. On the other hand, Rayna's former rival Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) will demand to have a performance spot at the upcoming CMT Music Awards.
CMT will air the upcoming episode of "Nashville" season 5 on Thursday, March 2.
