"Narcos" season 2 will feature the death of drug lord Pablo Escobar.

Viewers of "Narcos" are aware that the upcoming second season will feature the death of drug lord Pablo Escobar. As a true-to-life drama told from American DEA agent Steve Murphy's account, the death scene of Pablo was filmed to be as close to the real event as possible.

Executive producer Eric Newman revealed this detail to AFP, where Interaksyon was among those present. He said, "Escobar had a photographer with him and there are incredible photos taken by DEA agent Steve Murphy at the time of his death." He continued, "We've recreated the actual death scenario based on those pictures so it's as close as we can be."

Aside from Murphy, another DEA agent, Javier Pena, is also a consultant of the series. Murphy and Pena worked together in the investigation of Pablo at the height of his cartel and was also part of the manhunt team when Pablo escaped prison.

Newman shared, "They (Murphy and Pena) got us access to every level of the Colombian law enforcement system, guys who hunted these guys down and killed them."

TMZ reported that there was a problem that occurred while the death scene was being shot. According to the report, Netflix contacted the current resident of the house where the actual rooftop shootout happened in 1993. However, the owner did not allow filming to take place as a respect for the community and the real owners of the house.

Season 2 will pick up from Escobar's escape from La Catedral prison in the summer of 1992. In an interview with Slash Film early this year, Newman shared, "The design of the show is we told 15 years of history in one season. At the point of Escobar's escape which is the summer of 1992, Escobar has 18 months to live."

The show has garnered a lot of avid viewers who wish to see the show go beyond season 3, but Newman said, "That's not something we could change. To stretch that out beyond another season would be disingenuous of us. That story was always designed to have an ending."

Filming has already come to a close and Netflix has not announced the premiere yet, but "Narcos" season 2 is widely believed to premiere in August.
