Moto X3 release date, specs rumors: Device spotted on Zauba database

(Motorola)Moto X3 spotted on Zauba database

With everyone looking forward to the arrival of the next flagship device from Motorola, there was a lot of surprise recently when a new smartphone popped up in a rumor. This rumor specifically indicates that a new device is in the works from Motorola and it would be a flagship.

Reporting on the rumors of a new flagship smartphone from Motorola, Android Central states they arose when the device was spotted making its way through the Zauba database. Importantly, the Zauba import/export database deals with devices that are brought into India for testing purposes. This indicates that the device in question, which was listed as the X3 on Zauba, is already close to being released.

The listing on Zauba also indicates that eight devices with the X3 name were brought into the country for testing and they were shipped from the United States. These units are thought to be currently in India where they are being tested at the R&D facility owned by Motorola. What is disappointing about the listing is that very little specifications about the device were revealed. The only features seen were a 5-inch screen and a single slot for a SIM card.

This dearth of specifications for the X3 has left many industry pundits speculating that it would be the next version that would arrive in the Moto G lineup as only this device comes with a 5-inch screen. Others meanwhile have pointed toward the name of the smartphone and have thrown up the possibility of it being a new flagship device that has been designed to follow in the footsteps of the Moto X.

Importantly, Lenovo which currently owns the Motorola brand, has been in the process of restructuring and it is likely that the upcoming device is going to be released with a new brand and hence the new name. It is likely that when the Moto X3 releases, it will just be labeled as "Moto by Lenovo."
