'Modern Family' season 7 episode 9 spoilers: Gloria's hopes for a white Christmas but the hot season might ruin her plans
"Modern Family" has not been afraid to push the envelope in their portrayal of what a typical, modern American family is. The series also did something unusual in their scheduling this year, opting to broadcast reruns of previous season's Halloween and Thanksgiving episodes instead of shooting a new one. But a Christmas episode is a different matter apparently.
A press release shared by Disney ABC indicated that "Modern Family" season seven will have a Christmas episode which will be aired on Dec. 9. A synopsis for episode nine gave fans a hint as to what the Pritchett and Dunphy families will be up to this holiday season.
According to the press release, Gloria (Sofia Vergara) wants to have the perfect white Christmas that she never got to experience in Columbia, so she rented a cabin in the mountains for her whole family and Andy (Andy DeVine), to celebrate Christmas at. But things didn't quite go as planned and her dream of having a white Christmas is in danger of being ruined, thanks to the hot weather and the arrival of an unexpected guest (Andrea Martin).
The network hasn't released a trailer for the show's Christmas episode but several stills for episode nine shows Gloria doing her best to get everyone in the holiday spirit.
Gloria isn't the only one who will have a memorable Christmas holiday; the actress playing her will have one too as Vergara recently got married to "Magic Mike" actor Joe Manganiello. The 43-year-old actress got married on Nov. 22 in Florida and among her guests were her "Modern Family" co-stars Eric Stonestreet, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Ty Burrell. The stars have gotten real close while working on the show so it came as no surprise that they would also be there for Vergara's big day. Ferguson's husband even shared photos of the star's big day on his Instagram account.
Episode nine of "Modern Family" season seven is set to air on Dec. 9.
