'Mission: Impossible 6' cast: Rebecca Ferguson confirmed to be returning?
No leading lady has ever appeared twice in any "Mission: Impossible" movies. But "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation" leading lady Rebecca Ferguson wowed moviegoers and almost stole the whole movie that she is now being invited to be back in the sixth "M:I" movie.
Rebecca Ferguson was such a scene-stealer in "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation." It is therefore not all too surprising that she is now confirmed to come back on "Mission: Impossible 6." Showbiz 411 says Ferguson's return is "signed, sealed, and delivered," so as "Rogue Nation" director and writer Christopher McQuarrie's.
As ScreenCrush noted, this is great news for fans as Ferguson's Ilsa Faust proved an equal to Tom Cruise's permanent "M:I" character, Ethan Hunt. The online publication described her as a cross between Lauren Bacall and Ingrid Bergman. She's already flexed those girl muscles in serious action in the fifth movie and the next one can only step up her game.
The Swedish actress has obviously made impact, not just on the fans of the action spy film, but also the industry as a whole. She now has three more films lined-up: the highly-anticipated "Girl on the Train" with Emily Blunt, "Florence Foster Jenkins" with Meryl Streep, and "The Snowman" with Michael Fassbender. That means her resume will have been bloated up when she returns to the franchise that made her a hot leading lady in the first place. Her role as an "M:I" girl even made her one of the top contenders for the "Gambit" leading lady.
"Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation" was released at the end of this year and received a lot of critical acclaim, noted Wikipedia. Aside from high aggregate scores from review sites like Rotten Tomatoes and CinemaScore (thanks to its unique and new action scenes), it also grossed almost $7 million worldwide.
Rebecca Ferguson's representative or Paramount Pictures have not yet commented on the news. Stay tuned for updates.
