Milwaukee Bucks free agency, trade rumors 2016: Steve Novak aiming for another run with team

Free agent forward Steve Novak remains to be available on the market, and if given the chance, he would love to re-sign with the team he last played for, the Milwaukee Bucks.

Last February, Novak inked a deal with the Bucks but his stint with them abruptly ended after suffering a left medial collateral ligament (MCL) sprain. In three games for Milwaukee, he averaged 2.3 points per outing.

However, despite Novak's desire to return to Milwaukee, he understands free agency and knows that it will take time before the Bucks or any other team reach out to him.

"The A priorities have to take place. There have been conversations that have gone on with guys like Dwyane Wade and other big free agents, and those have to happen first," Novak said earlier this week according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Novak added, "We understand that. What can happen contract-wise has to rely on those other signings, so we're being patient. We have very open dialogue at this point. It's good. We understand this is just part of the process."

Novak is an experienced journeyman in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Since being selected 32nd overall in 2006, he already played for nine teams including the Bucks. Besides Milwaukee, the 33-year-old had stops with the Houston Rockets (the team that drafted him), Los Angeles Clippers, Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs, New York Knicks, Toronto Raptors, Utah Jazz, and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Novak also had the chance to see action in the NBA Developmental League (D-League).

Three-point shooting is Novak's specialty and that is what he will lean on this free agency. Teams seeking for an outside threat are the ones likely to add him for the 2016-17 season, especially now that the game has changed and three-point shooting is something squads covet as they aim to somewhat emulate the success the Golden State Warriors achieved with their historical and record-breaking shooting in the past few seasons.
