There are still no official updates on formula F1 champion Michael Schumacher's health, but according to reports, he is on his way to recovery. However, an expert said that when he does recover, he may no longer be the same way before.

Neurological and spinal surgeon Dr. Peter Hamlyn told Express UK that not all patients with head injuries are able to recover. He also added that the recovery period will take a long time that it could bring emotional suffering to the family.

"If you look at severe head injury victims who go on to make a good recovery — and I'm not saying all do — it will always be a story of years," Dr. Hamlyn said. "The first months are dominated by questions of survival. Gradually as the weeks and months go by those questions of survival turn into questions of the quality of survival."

After Schumacher got sever injuries after the December 2013's ski accident while on vacation, he has been placed under the best medical experts and healthcare facility. The team of doctors is led by Dr. Jean-Francois Payen. According to reports, his hospital bill amounts to $140,000 per week.

Payen recently commended Michael's wife, Corinna, for her "exceptional willpower." Despite the situation she and her family are in, she still exerts all of her effort just to help improve her husband's condition.

Schumacher is currently staying at his Swiss mansion near Lake Geneva. Even though the family has implemented a media blackout as they try to recover altogether privately, according to insiders, they have less expectation for any miracles to happen.

According to reports, the world-renowned F1 champion gets a four-hour massage everyday to stimulate his muscles. His recovery is also being evaluated every hour. In order to maintain their security and privacy, they have installed special tents to prevent from being infiltrated.
