Mi 5 vs LG G5: Device from Xiaomi is cheaper but the LG G5 has better design and is versatile

When the LG G5 released a day before MWC this year, the device captured headlines because of its modular design. However, when the Xiaomi Mi 5 released, its affordable price tag and great specs had everyone talking, and this is how these two devices fare in a comparison.
Design
The LG G5 has a better design and comes with a sturdy full metal body. Its rear panel is smooth without any antenna lines and it has a fingerprint scanner positioned just below the dual cameras. There is a slot at the bottom of the device to which modules can be added, and there are two offered so far by LG. One of these comes with a battery and camera controls and another is a HiFi audio player. As for colors, the LG G5 comes in gold, silver, pink, and titan. As for the Mi 5, it has a metal frame, but there is glass on its back panel that curves to meet the frame. However, the device has the look and feel of a high-end smartphone and comes with a fingerprint scanner incorporated in its home button. There is also a version that comes with a ceramic back and the device has three color options black, white, and gold.
Display
Coming to display size, the Mi 5 has an IPS LCD version measuring 5.15 inches and it has a resolution of1080 x 1920 pixels and density of 428 pixels per inch. As for the LG G5, it has a better-quality IPS LCD display measuring 5.3 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and density of 554 pixels per inch.
Hardware
Here, the LG G5 and the Mi 5 are alike as they have the same chipset. Each has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset coupled with a quad-core CPU and an Adreno 530 GPU.
Memory
There is a no microSD slot on the Mi 5 and so external storage cannot be tacked on. As for the LG G5, its slot supports up to 200 GB of external storage. In terms of RAM, each of these devices comes with 4GB on board.
Camera
Dual cameras are present on the rear of the LG G5 and one of these is a 16-megapixel version and another is an 8 megapixel. As for the Mi 5, it has a 16-megapixel camera at its rear.
Price
Comparing price, the LG G5 is expected to cost $199 with a two-year contract, while the Xiaomi Mi 5 costs $260 unlocked.
