Memphis Grizzlies free agency, trade rumors 2016: Team eyeing Serbian playmaker Miloš Teodosić?

The Memphis Grizzlies could beef up their point guard rotation by adding Miloš Teodosić, who they reportedly tried to sign in 2013 by offering him a two-year deal which was worth around $5 million.

Teodosić made waves recently after helping Serbia almost score an upset versus the United States in the group stage of the 2016 Rio Olympics. But even before this, the Grizzlies had already targeted him a few years back, although according to ESPN's report, he decided to join CSKA Moscow instead.

ESPN also mentioned that Teodosić's pact with CSKA Moscow has no "NBA outs." That means the 29-year-old will not be available on the market until the summer of 2017.

Despite this, playing in the National Basketball Association (NBA) could be in Teodosić's future and if he tries his luck next year, the Grizzlies may still be interested in him.

As of the moment, aside from franchise star Mike Conley, the Grizzlies have no other experienced point guard.

On ESPN's depth chart for Memphis, behind Conley are Andrew Harrison and Wade Baldwin IV.

Last year, Harrison entered the league as the 44th overall pick by the Phoenix Suns who traded him to the Grizzlies. However, he did not see action for the latter and was assigned to the Iowa Energy, the franchise's NBA Developmental League (D-League) affiliate.

Meanwhile, Baldwin is a rookie who was selected by Memphis 17th overall in last June's draft.

If the Grizzlies want to contend in the years to come, they need to strengthen their point guard position by giving Conley a quality backup and Teodosić could be the answer. He may not have played in the NBA yet but he is one of the best players from Europe and is a proven winner.

Teodosić helped CSKA Moscow become the current Euroleague champions. He is a one-time Euroleague Most Valuable Player (MVP) and has achieved numerous feats in international tourneys representing Serbia.
