'Married at First Sight' season 3 news: Team TreNessa breakup
Viewers of the reality television show "Married at First Sight" received shocking developments during the airing of the special episode of the third season, "Six Months Later," when the solid couple, known on the show as Team TreNessa, declared they were getting a divorce.
And while fans continued to hope that Vanessa Nelson and Tres Russel would somehow reunite, Nelson and Russel have each declared that a reconciliation is nowhere in sight for them.
The couple blamed their breakup on their loss of intimacy. Nelson shared that Russel had stopped being intimate with her, which led her to have feelings of inadequacy. Russel admitted his feelings for Nelson had faded, which is why he stopped sharing intimacies with the latter.
Inadvertently, a huge fight that broke out between them post-Decision Day became the way out for the former lovebirds. It was revealed that the couple got into a big row when Russel stayed out one night and got home the next morning at 5:00 a.m.
Russel told The Knot about it during an interview, "We got into a huge fight, and I think I was holding some things in, from our lack of intimacy and feeling kind of not so great about myself." She explained, "because I'm wondering why my husband doesn't wanna sleep with me. And then he let me know he kind of didn't have feelings for me ..."
Russel revealed to US Weekly that though he was sure of his decision to stay married to Nelson on Decision Day, his feelings began to fade as time passed, but that he had stayed on to try to make it work.
When the fight broke out and after saying some hurtful things, Russel said he felt it was better for him to move out before the fight escalated. The 27-year-old confessed that he refrained from sharing any more intimacies with Nelson out of respect for her.
"I stopped being intimate with my wife — my biggest regret is that I didn't explain to her why." He went on to say, "I stopped out of respect for her. Vanessa is one of the most stunning and sexy women that I have ever seen. It was never about physical attraction. I stopped because I knew that her heart and feelings were there for me, and mine were no longer there ... I shouldn't have hidden the fact that my feelings had faded."
And so, the couple who had everyone thinking love was in the air has now said good-bye in a last date after the special episode.
Russel called the breakup "extremely painful," and responding to a question of future reconciliation, said that "only time will tell."
Nelson declared, "Marriages are hard work," and that her experiment with it got her "heartbroken." But though the 26-year-old does not believe there is a future for her and Russel, she shared, "I don't have any regrets."
