'Married at First Sight' season 3: Vanessa Nelson and Tres Russell talk about their decision to split
"Married at First Sight" season 3's experimental marriage may have been over, but the show recently aired its reunion special, which somehow brought a total shock to the viewers.
Tres Russell and Vanessa Nelson were the only participants whom everyone thought had the best chances of staying together even after the show. Since day one of the experiment, the two had strong chemistry and they were even the only couple who consummated their marriage. However, in the reunion episode, which was filmed six months later after conclusion of the experiment, people learned that these two lovebirds are no longer together.
Speaking to Us Weekly in an exclusive interview, the 27-year-old luxury car brand specialist revealed that he was committed to staying married to Nelson that time on Decision Day. He was even optimistic that they would make their relationship last. However, his feelings started to fade until it reached to the point that their marriage could not be saved.
Russell shared that they have tried counseling and even asked help from experts and their family, but nothing worked. He admitted he had a serious argument with his wife and they exchanged some hurtful words, which affected their relationship greatly.
After that fight, Russell told the publication, "I realized it was best for me to grab my stuff and leave, so it didn't escalate into something more."
Nelson, on the other hand, also had something to share. Speaking to The Knot in an exclusive interview, Nelson admitted she was disappointed that their marriage crumbled. She explained to the publication that marriage isn't easy and "there was still much work to be done" but she took on the challenge to keep their marriage. However, things wouldn't always end up the way they should.
"There is a time when you must accept when you are not on the same page in many areas that are essential to marriage and when your efforts are in vain," she shared.
Despite what happened, Nelson said that she didn't regret the experience she had and she even respects Russell's decision. Whether they can make their relationship work in the near future or not remains to be seen. "Only time will tell," Russell said.
The two are still hopeful that one day each of them will find that one person meant to be with them for a long time.
