The third season of "Married at First Sight" has officially come to an end, with two of the three couples opting to get a divorce.

The reality show revolves around three couples who got married on the day they first met. Matched by four relationship experts, the couples lived as husband and wife for six weeks, after which they'll decide whether to divorce or remain married. For season 3, the experts matched Tres Russell with Vanessa Nelson, David Norton with Ashley Doherty and Neil Bowlus with Samantha Role.

The first part of the two-episode finale showed David and Ashley unanimously deciding that they wanted a divorce. Reports have it that viewers were expecting the two to end their relationship as they never connected or communicated as a married couple. This was apparent with how quickly the two wanted to divide their stuff and return to their separate lives after they revealed their decision. Incidentally, it was during this time that Ashley wanted to talk. But as Us Magazine described, David was apparently done talking about their marriage.

It was harder for fans to predict the outcome of Neil and Sam's marriage. The two had the usual ups and downs but both had worked hard to overcome them. As Sam explained to psychologist Joseph Cilona and sociologist Pepper Schwartz, she learned that she was "an evil b****" when she first met Neil and that she "did not manage [herself] properly." But she has learned how to communicate and believed she has become a better human being. Her husband Neil agreed on said they had come a long way when it came to communicating with each other. Unfortunately, while Sam admitted that she cherished Neil as a husband and wanted to remain married, he didn't feel the same way and asked for a divorce.

Sam was clearly devastated about the outcome but it seems the two have moved past that. According to a New York Post interview, the two reopened lines of communication several weeks after the finale was filmed (the episode was filmed six months ago) and has since become good friends.

As for Tres and Vanessa, their decision to stay married came as no surprise as viewers clearly saw the two becoming closer as they worked on overcoming the difficulties they encountered in their marriage. Tres even surprised his wife afterwards with a new dog collar for her dog, Nola, to signify that they are a family.

"Married at First Sight" season 3 will have a reunion special on March 8.
