'Marco Polo' season 3 rumors: Kublai Khan gears up for revenge on Prester John?
Despite fears that "Marco Polo" has been silently axed by Netflix, new reports are emerging with predictions on how the third season of the historical drama will take its storylines further.
New reports suggest that fans will see a fiercer and ever vengeful Kublai Khan (Benedict Wong) when "Marco Polo" season three arrives. Kublai Khan has been described in historical accounts as a ruthless leader and it won't come as a surprise if he decides to go to war with someone who challenges his authority.
In the finale of the previous season, it was implied that mystic character Prester John attacked the Mongol leader's camp. Since the end was a cliffhanger, it wasn't revealed if Kublai Khan and his men escaped safely. Though Marco (Lorenzo Richelmy) was able to warn the group about potential danger, it's still unknown if no one was hurt or if Kublai Khan actually survived the attack since the camp was left in shambles.
On the other hand, rumor has it that Kublai Khan will definitely bounce back. Based on historical documents, Kublai Khan is someone who can become brutal if he is angered and at this point, it seems it's Prester John who will awaken the demon inside the Mongol leader.
If Kublai Khan is indeed prepping for war, it would be interesting to see him face off with the mystic character who may have knowledge of the use of magic and dark powers.
It is further speculated that Kublai Khan will finally have a much bigger role in "Marco Polo" season three, which means he may have longer air time and also more relevant lines to share.
While the rumor mill keeps churning, Netflix remains mum on the show's renewal. Could this mean that "Marco Polo" has been canceled? There are no official announcements made yet so it would be too early to assume that the series has been axed.
For now, fans can continue hoping that "Marco Polo" season three will premiere sometime next year, as initially predicted after season two wrapped up.
