'Madam Secretary' season 3 spoilers: Dalton waits for Elizabeth's answer

(Facebook/MadamSecretary)Elizabeth considers the vice president position in "Madam Secretary" season 3.

Season 3 of "Madam Secretary" will see how Elizabeth (Téa Leoni) will respond to President Dalton's (Keith Carradine) proposal on having her as his running mate in the presidential elections. Will she say yes or no?

In the show's last installment, the POTUS surprised everyone with his sudden decision to choose a wild card for the vice presidential race. Dalton told Elizabeth he wanted her to campaign alongside him. Before that, she had been hearing rumors of his intention to replace her as Secretary of State. Elizabeth never expected his offer to join his team. Viewers, however, expected the move somehow. After all, the Secretary is a certified kingmaker.

Because of Elizabeth's skillful handling of sensitive situations domestically and internationally, Dalton's credibility ratings improved. Americans learned to trust his administration because his people knew what they were doing. Elizabeth's hard work ensured that Dalton remained in his position and they both know that. The President is also a smart man. By having Elizabeth as his VP, he can guarantee her loyalty and credibility. Now, he only needs to wait for her final answer.

Elizabeth will probably want to think about the proposition thoroughly. She needs her husband's approval before she can say yes or no. Henry (Tim Daly) and the children are bound to be affected by her decision. Being the VP is a very serious matter and she will also have to leave the job that she has come to love. Elizabeth even told Dalton she did not want to leave the State Department so soon after she has adjusted to everything.

According to CarterMatt, filming for the upcoming season will start mid-July. The show will also air in a different schedule when it returns in September. It will take over the 9 p.m. Sunday time slot that the "The Good Wife" previously occupied. This will be a huge challenge for the CBS series, as it will be pitted against two powerhouses, HBO's "Game of Thrones" and AMC's "The Walking Dead."
